Dry Needling in Las Vegas

Frequently Asked Questions

What is dry needling?

Small single-use acupuncture needles are inserted into the tissues deemed relevant, bringing blood flow and healing factors to the region. A twitch response of the muscle may be observed, and tension is reduced.

Why use dry needling?

When trigger points are evident, the muscle's ability to fully lengthen is impaired, requiring increased effort for recruitment and decreased efficiency in firing for movement. Dry needles help optimize a muscle's firing capacity by reducing pain, relaxing the muscles, and decreasing tension.

Is it the same as acupuncture?

While the needles used are similar, the treatment approaches are quite different. Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine and focuses on restoring overall balance through meridian pathways, while dry needling targets specific muscles and tissues to directly reduce pain and improve function.

Does it hurt?

Some patients don't even feel the initial needle penetration. The first session is relatively conservative in nature and may cause mild tenderness. Any post-needling soreness generally resolves 24-48 hours following treatment.
